Production Lead Suspended Over Alleged N180M Embezzlement Scandal

The Association of Movie Producers, Nigeria (AMP) has issued a formal notice of suspension to Mr. Chris Odeh, the production lead of BRS Studios, over alleged misappropriation of ₦180,000,000 meant for three productions.

In a statement seen by eelive.ng, the notice dated May 4, 2026, the suspension follows petitions from Mr. Ramsey Nouah and Mrs. Joy Odiete.

AMP stated that Mr. Odeh admitted to misappropriating the funds during a disciplinary hearing and agreed to a repayment plan. However, the first ₦60,000,000 cheque issued for April 30, 2026, failed to clear due to insufficient funds.

AMP says the breach undermines trust and shows an unwillingness to settle the agreed amount.

Equally, the BRS Studios was established in 2024 as a high-profile joint venture and Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) designed to scale up Nollywood productions and expand the reach of African cinema.

The studio is a partnership among three major industry entities: Ramsey Films, owned by veteran actor and director Ramsey Nouah. The other is Blue Pictures Distribution, and it is led by major distributor Joy Efe Odiete.

Additionally, Sozo Films, the third, is headed by Chris Odeh, an experienced producer known for projects like Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story and Living in Bondage: Breaking Free.
