Reese Witherspoon is $900 million richer and here’s why

American actress and entertainment mogul, Reese Witherspoon has sold her company Hello Sunshine for a whopping $900 million.

Witherspoon founded Hello Sunshine in 2016. In the past, the company produced fan-favorites such as The Morning Show, Big Little Lies and Little Fires Everywhere. The company also operates Witherspoon’s Book Club. Multiple reports show that the sale to investment company, Blackstone was worth about $900 million.

In a press release , the award winning actress stated,

“Today marks a tremendous moment for Hello Sunshine. I started this company to change the way people see women in media. Over the past few years, we have watched our mission thrive through books, TV, film and social platforms.”

The press release revealed that the new venture will be led by entertainment executives Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs. Investment company, Blackstone backs the former Disney executives.

However, the 45 year old actress will still be a part of the day-to-day operations. She will be also part of the new media company’s board.

“We’re taking a huge step forward by partnering with Blackstone. This will enable us to tell even more entertaining, impactful and illuminating stories about women’s lives globally,” she continued.

The ‘Legally blonde’ actress said she “couldn’t be more excited” about what this new leadership will do for Hello Sunshine. She further promised that she will still be part of its journey.

“I am committed to continuing to create opportunity for filmmakers, authors and creators of all backgrounds and experiences. For them to tell their stories in their own way. And to reach more audiences who will see that their stories matter,” Reese said. ” Hello Sunshine is here to put a spotlight on their amazing creations.”

Legally Blonde 3 is one of Hello Sunshine’s  upcoming projects. Reese’s friend, Mindy Kaling, will write this.
