Nigerian Afrobeats and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter star Rema is back to set the dance floor on fire with the release of his high-energy new single, “Kelebu.”

Known for his boundary-pushing style, Rema fuses vibrant Francophone dance rhythms such as Coupé-Décalé, Makossa, Bouyon, and Bongo Flava in this track, creating an infectious groove that invites movement.

In his words, “Kelebu” is inspired by the kind of music that dominated his early school party memories, songs that made everyone dance even if they didn’t understand the language. The single channels that same cross-cultural energy, aiming to connect global audiences through rhythm and vibe.

To fuel the excitement, Rema launched a worldwide dance challenge tagged the #KelebuChallenge, offering a grand prize of $10,000 (₦12 million) for the most creative choreography. The challenge quickly went viral, with thousands of entries on TikTok and Instagram. A throwback dance video of the late Nollywood icon Mr. Ibu also resurfaced, with fans suggesting Rema award the prize posthumously to Mr. Ibu’s family in tribute.

“Kelebu” is already sparking reactions from fans and critics alike. Some hail Rema’s bold experimentation and global vision, while others debate his shift into Francophone territories. Still, his risk-taking is part of what has kept him at the top of the game.

Following previous hits like “Baby (Is It a Crime)” and his award-winning album Heis, Rema shows no sign of slowing down. With “Kelebu,” he proves once again that he’s not just riding the Afrobeats wave, he’s steering it.
