Nollywood actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke has openly defended taking money to back political figures, framing it as a practical way to earn a living rather than a political statement.
In a recent interview with African A-List on YouTube, the actress, also known as Ronke Ojo, made clear she has little interest in discussing Nigerian politics. She described the political space as “dirty” and stressed that she is not advising anyone on how to vote.
When asked whether she would accept payment to endorse or support a politician, Oshodi-Oke responded frankly. She urged the public to view any association with political figures as a means of putting food on the table.

“If you see me behind any politician, anybody, just see it as if she is looking for something to put food on the table. Just leave, let her eat. Do not insult or drag me,” she said.
Her comments come against the backdrop of long-standing public debate in Nigeria about celebrities receiving payments for political campaigns.
The actress also touched on other personal matters during the conversation, including past health challenges and relationships within the industry. However, her remarks on political support have drawn particular attention for their directness.
