Yoruba Nollywood star Rotimi Salami has quashed the reports alleging he had a romantic relationship with the late actress Allwell Ademola.
Speaking in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, the actor said he was largely unaware of the rumours when they first started spreading, adding that the issue only came to his attention after Ademola personally contacted him to ask if he had heard what people were saying about them.
“I told her I did not hear about it, and I truly do not listen to people,” Salami said.
He maintained that since his emergence, he has intentionally stayed away from industry gossip and prefers to focus on his work rather than speculation about his private life.
Speaking about boundaries in friendship, Salami said that as a married man, his wife’s comfort takes priority over any relationship outside their marriage.
“If my wife says she was not comfortable with our relationship, I would withdraw because she is the only person I am answerable to,” he said.

The actor added that public rumours do not influence how he treats colleagues, but he would never allow any friendship to threaten peace in his home.
Speaking about the late actress’s passing, Salami described the news as heartbreaking and shocking to those who knew her closely.
Ademola died in December 2025 at the age of 49 after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest at her residence.
He noted that she had long battled asthma and was extremely careful about managing her health.
“She’s been asthmatic, doesn’t joke with her health or medications, always cautious of her health and always had her inhaler and always tell people to take care of their health, I just believed it’s her time,” he said.
Ademola’s death sent waves through the Yoruba film industry, where she was known for her talent, discipline, and strong presence on screen.
With his response, Salami has attempted to put an end to years of speculation surrounding his connection with the late actress.
More importantly, he says he has no interest in feeding rumours, choosing instead to concentrate on family, work, and maintaining peace in his personal life.
