Runtown has announced the release of a new EP entitled ‘Tradition’, through a publication on his official website. This comes as a follow-up to his 2015 debut album ‘Ghetto University’, which received wide acclaim.
“For me there’s really no difference between an EP and an album. Example, last year, Kanye West, Pusha T and Nas put out albums that had just seven songs. When it’s time for an album everyone will know,” Runtown said, commenting on why he decided to put out an EP instead of an album.
‘Tradition’ is a six-track project that houses five new songs and one already released single, ‘Unleash’, – which features south-east London artiste, Fekky – released in June 2018 and will serve as bonus track on the EP as it is the only song that accommodates a guest contribution, with Runtown flying solo on the rest of the project.
Going further to comment on the possibility of making a hit like his 2016 banger, ‘Mad Over You’, the artist said; “I don’t have any control over what song will become a hit, listeners get to make the decision.
I only have control over the quality and level of truth that I put into my music and so far, my instinct has never failed me. People connect with my truth and that is what I owe myself and those who truly love Runtown.”
On his plans for the future, Runtown added; “I have made several hit songs after ‘Mad Over You’. Arguably the biggest original song in the history of Coke Studio Africa was made by me and Nasty C. I will continue to focus on making music that I love and leave the rest to the universe.”
The singer also revealed that a week before the project drops on May 31. He will be putting out a new single titled ‘Emotions’, the second track on the EP.
