Seun Kuti, Dolly Parton, Others Take the Stage at 61st Grammys

Nigeria’s Afrobeat artiste, Seun Kuti will this weekend mount the stage at the 2019 edition of the world’s most prestigious music awards, The Grammys.  The 61st Grammy Awards is billed to take place this Sunday. It will be hosted by singer/songwriter Alicia Keys. Seun Kuti, son of the late music legend and creator of the Afrobeat brand of music will perform alongside Malian singer/songwriter, Fatoumata Diawara. Kuti is also a nominee in Best World Music Album category  for the album “Black Times.” The list of performer at this year’s edition of the award is quite  eye popping and audiences across the world are sure in for several memorable moments.

Legendary country musician, Dolly Parton is set to make a comeback on the stage – her first performance since 2001. She will be performing her song from the movie, Dumplin. She will also be honoured with the 2019 MusiCares “Person of the Year award”. Katy Perry, Maren Morris, KAcy Musgraves and Little Big Town will be doing a collaborated medley of some of Parton’s hits.

Other acts billed to perform include Lady Gaga and Mark Ronson, Travis Scott, Chloe x Halle while Yolanda Adams, Fantasia, and Andra Day are also expected to perform in tribute of the late Aretha Franklin.

Artistes previously announced are Cardi B, Brandi Carlile, Dan + Shay, H.E.R., Shawn Mendes, Janelle Monáe, Red Hot Chili Peppers Post Malonen,Diana Ross, J Balvin, Young Thug, Arturo Sandoval, and Ricky Martin.

We are excited that our very own Seun Kuti and Ibra Ake were nominated and stand a chance to bring home the gold. We will be rooting for them.
