Following her public accusation, Babatayo said four armed policemen stormed her apartment and unlawfully took her into custody. They allegedly seized her phones and other personal effects; forcing her to delete the accusatory tweet.

According to Seyitan, D’banj connived with the police to isolate her from her family, coerce, pressure, and intimidate her. They made her retract the rape allegation she made against him; coercing her to announce that the whole accusation was just a publicity stunt.
