Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has showered praise on fellow music star Ayra Starr, describing the younger singer as hardworking and deserving of recognition for her achievements.
Speaking about artists she admires, Tems said she would like to “give flowers” to Ayra Starr, whose journey and determination appear to remind her of her own rise in the music industry.
She said: “I’d like to give flowers to a young girl called Ayra Starr. She reminds me so much of myself. She’s a hardworking girl, and she’s doing her thing. She deserves her flowers.”
The grammy award-winning singer also raised the possibility of a future collaboration between the two Nigerian stars.
She added: “Possibly, we’ll do a song together.”

Tems, has become one of Africa’s most successful global music exports.
However, her achievements have also been recognised with several major awards.
Tems has won two Grammy Awards, including the 2023 Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance for her contribution to Future’s Wait For U, featuring Drake.
She later won the 2025 Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance with Love Me JeJe.
She has also won a BET Award for Best International Act, two NAACP Image Awards, and two Soul Train Music Awards, among other honours.
