Resident pastor of The Waterbrook Church, Blessed Uzochikwa, has opened up about a frightening health incident involving his wife, gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, during her second pregnancy.
Speaking during a church service, the pastor revealed that the incident occurred while Mercy Chinwo was expecting their second child, who was eventually born in 2025.
According to him, the singer had stepped out of their bedroom and gone into their son’s room when she suddenly began feeling unwell before collapsing.
He said the situation became terrifying after she failed to respond following the fall, causing panic among family members in the house.

Uzochikwa explained that in the midst of the emergency, he quickly contacted popular gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey for help.
He recalled that Nathaniel Bassey initially requested a video call so he could observe Mercy Chinwo’s condition.
Shortly afterwards, the gospel minister reportedly came to their home alongside members of the Hallelujah Challenge prayer team to pray for her.
The pastor said Mercy Chinwo eventually regained consciousness after the prayers, bringing relief to everyone present.
He further disclosed that Nathaniel Bassey later described the incident as a spiritual attack.
Uzochikwa said: “Nath is a blessing to my family. We talk all the time, and I am honoured to have access to him. I can remember what he did when my wife was pregnant with my second child. She came out of the room and went to my son’s room.
Uzochikwa continued: “She started complaining and collapsed. Her face was dark, and I was confused because she was not responding. I called Pastor Nath, and he said that I should do a video call, and he came with the Hallelujah Challenge prayer team”.
Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa and gospel singer Mercy Chinwo tied the knot in August 2022. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in 2023 before announcing the arrival of their second child in August 2025.
