Singer Kelis Announces Pregnancy

American singer and song writer, Kelis is expecting her third child with Mike Mora, her husband.

The 40-year-old singer took to her Instagram page to share a picture of her pregnancy test result.

“Chef Kelis – table for 5 please. We’re adding one more! Happy to announce that I’m expecting.’ the singer whose real name is Kelis Rogers captioned the picture.

Kelis went on to pen a note of hope to black mothers. She wrote;

“There are so many things to consider during this time in your life, especially during the crazy times that we live in — from what we eat, to how we live and love. This is the time we must take for ourselves without apologies, especially when we still live in a country where Black women historically have had the highest maternal mortality rates.

“Black mamas have the rights, respect, resources to thrive before, during, and after pregnancy. Together we can change these statistics, one woman at a time.”

The R n B singer and her husband already have a 4-year-old son, named Shepherd while she has an 11-year-old son from her first marriage to rapper, Nas.

In 2018, Kelis revealed for the first time publicly, that she was abused by Nas during their five-year marriage. Before opening up on the alleged abuse, she hinted that the she did not leave the rapper due to his infidelity.

“That was the straw that broke the camel’s back,” she explained. “I didn’t file for divorce because he cheated. He had been cheating for two years, and I knew that. It was because, on top of all the other stuff, and then you’re gonna cheat? It was too much.”
