Nigerian influencer and fashion entrepreneur, Sophia Momodu, has once again found herself in the spotlight following a cryptic message she shared on social media, believed to be addressing some of the backlash she’s recently faced.

In an Instagram story, the mother of singer Davido’s first child, Imade Adeleke, made a thought-provoking statement about shame and its use as a tool for manipulation. Though she didn’t mention any names, many of her followers believe the post was directed at critics and possibly those involved in her ongoing public rift with Davido

The enemy and his children (aka the accusers of man) love to use shame as their no 1 tool. You take that from them & they’re powerless,” she wrote.

The message appeared to be a reflection of her state of mind following an earlier online altercation with a follower who criticized her demeanor regarding her daughter’s resemblance to Davido.

The situation unfolded after a fan commented on Imade’s striking likeness to the Afrobeat star. Sophia responded to the comment, but not everyone was pleased with her tone. One user described her as “immature and childish,” a remark that clearly did not sit well with the entrepreneur.

Sophia clapped back at the critic, warning that she would not hesitate to block anyone who disrespects her. The heated exchange sparked mixed reactions, with some defending her right to speak up, while others urged her to maintain a more reserved approach, especially given the public nature of her relationship with Davido.

This incident comes on the heels of what seemed to be a brief moment of peace between the former couple. In June, Sophia and Davido reunited publicly for the first time in two years to celebrate their daughter Imade’s 10th birthday. The lavish celebration was attended by close family and friends, including members of Davido’s 30 Billion Gang (30BG). Several clips from the party made rounds on social media, showing Sophia and Davido posing together with their daughter and her birthday cake, appearing cordial for the occasion.

While many hoped the reunion signaled a new chapter of cooperation and co-parenting between the two, insiders say the tensions beneath the surface remain unresolved. Their relationship reportedly hit a rough patch after Davido rekindled his romance with longtime partner Chioma Rowland and went on to marry her in a private but highly publicized ceremony. The swift marriage left Sophia reportedly blindsided and deeply hurt.

Shortly after Davido’s wedding, Sophia took to social media with a cryptic post of a cat refusing to take disrespect from a dog, an apparent jab that fans interpreted as a metaphor for her situation. That post was followed by a lengthy online rant where she accused the singer of financial abuse, claiming he used money to control and manipulate her as a mother.

Things escalated further last year when Davido filed a lawsuit seeking joint custody of their daughter, alleging that Sophia was deliberately preventing him from seeing Imade and using her to extort money. Sophia denied the claims, insisting she was doing what was best for their daughter. In her legal opposition, she pointed to concerns over Davido’s capacity to care for their child, referencing the tragic passing of his son, Ifeanyi, as one of the reasons she believed joint custody would not be in Imade’s best interest.

Since then, the pair have continued their co-parenting under a cloud of legal tension, emotional strain, and public scrutiny. Sophia has remained vocal about her journey as a single mother and often shares messages about self-worth, motherhood, and personal boundaries, many of which are believed to be subtle responses to her ongoing issues with Davido.

Her latest message about shame and power dynamics adds to a growing list of cryptic but pointed posts that reflect her perspective on navigating life under the spotlight. For many of her supporters, Sophia represents resilience in the face of public judgment, while critics continue to challenge her openness and tone.

As the co-parenting battle continues to play out both in courtrooms and on social media, one thing is clear—Sophia Momodu is not backing down from defending herself, her daughter, or her truth.
