Stolen Jewelry: Mayorkun meets with Cross River Governor, Bassey Otu
Nigerian singer, Mayorkun, has met with the Cross River state Governor, Bassey Otu, following recent happenings at a show in the state.
Sharing details of the meeting in a post through his X(formerly Twitter) on Monday night, Mayorkun said the the governor assured him that the Calabar people remain hospitable.
The governor promised the singer he would be compensated for the stolen valuables.
Mayorkun added that anyone who helps him find his lost pendant would be compensated with a sum of 5 million naira.
He wrote “Just met with the Governor of Cross River state, H.E Prince Bassey Otu.
“He assured me that Calabar people remain very hospitable and he has also stressed that I ll be compensated for my valuables lost. Thank you sir 🫶🏾.
“Still searching for my pendant! 💎, It’s so special to me for many reasons. I have a 5 million naira reward for anyone who finds and returns it. Please help spread the word! 🫶🏾”
Mayorkun had on Monday performed at the popular Calabar festival held at the U.J. Esuene Stadium.
During the course of the performance, the singer’s valuables worth millions of naira were stolen from him.
Following what transpired, the singer vowed not to perform at any show in Calabar again.
Making his displeasure known in a post on X, he wrote “Calabar, You’ll probably never ever see me again, goodluck to the other artistes coming for your festivals tho.”

Following Mayorkun’s displeasure, Iyanya appealed to those involved in the act to returned the stolen valuables; promising to compensate them.
He wrote “My Calabar people, this is very bad for the peaceful people I know us to be. The government has brought my colleagues to entertain you, all you owe them is protection and great hospitality.
“If you know anyone who stole from my brother , please return it, and I will personally compensate you. Drop it at The Grand Hotel. I will personally compensate you please.
Additionally in a follow up post, Iyanya revealed that one of the stolen jewelry has be recovered.
