‘Stop Trying to be God’ – Kelly Rowland on Cancel Culture

Kelly Rowland just revealed that she is not a fan of cancel culture. In fact, she dislikes it so much that she took a moment to share her thoughts on the matter in an Instagram post on Thursday.

The post featured a screenshot of a memo the former Destiny’s Child member wrote.”In this ‘cancel culture’ we live in, I am SO grateful God NEVER cancelled me, And I’m sure he could’ve many-a-times!” the singer wrote.

“Let us always TRY to remember NOT to judge others. We HONESTLY don’t have the space nor authority too! Let us remember to lead with love & kindness, the world is has enough negativity, for you to pour more into it!” she concluded, followed by #STOPTRYINTOBEGOD.

In the caption of the post, Rowland invited her over 10 million followers to join in on the conversation about cancel culture; adding, “So what light are you bringing into the world? Please share it with me in the comments below.”

Celebrities like Lena Waithe, Miguel, Jay Shetty and Draya Michele praised the 39-year-old singer for her bold post. Meanwhile other users noted that simply holding someone accountable for their actions is not the same as cancel culture.

However, the case for cancel culture is that it reminds people in power that their power comes from the love of the people and the money they pay for their art; as that position of influence tends to lead to misyarns and offensive actions.

Although Rowland is right and cancel culture can turn cruel and unforgiving, it sort of levels the playing field and holds celebrities accountable. And more often than not, celebrities that vehemently oppose cancel culture have something to hide.

Besides, come to think about it, does anyone REALLY stay cancelled?
