As Wizkid celebrates his 35th birthday today, it’s pivotal we take time to visit where his impressive journey as a musician, celebrity, and influential figure in the modern Nigerian community began, Superstar.

Released in 2011, Superstar would be regarded as one of the most influential music albums in the 21st century. This is due to the popularity of the music project at the time and how it was able to not only inspire an entire generation of listeners to pursue a music career, it also redefined Afrobeats as a musical genre and propelled its cultural values.

In 2011, at the emergence of his debut studio, Wizkid spoke to a burgeoning generation of young individuals who were trying to discover their path through life.
