British-Nigerian Actress, Susan Wokoma, says she’s set to write her very first feature film which she has aptly titled ‘Three Weeks’.
The actress, who is known for her mind-blowing performances on two critically acclaimed TV shows, ‘Chewing Gum’ and ‘Crazyhead’ says she is doing so to build a formidable filmography.
‘Three Weeks’ is a romantic comedy that follows a woman (Wokoma) who is dumped by her boyfriend. She rebounds into a new relationship only to find she is pregnant by her ex. She decides on an abortion and, in the three-week wait for the procedure, has to figure out her life and identity.
On her goal for writing, the actress shared; “My agenda for writing is so clear now—I’m putting black women at the centre of everything.”
And now it’s official. I’m writing my feature film debut ‘Three Weeks’ – a romantic-comedy-drama about abortion. Backed by @_eva_yates at @BBCFilms & by produced by @julianottingham #youknowme @Variety https://t.co/TxWtp22YKx
