The Death of an Idea: Malawi Writing Today II launches in major cities of Malawi.

Malawi Writing Today: A PEN Anthology of Recent Writing in Malawi, was the first book published by PEN Malawi, the Malawian arm of the international organization founded to promote friendship and intellectual cooperation among writers everywhere.

Edited by Kingston Lapukeni Phiri in 1999, it featured a number of writers including Steve Chimombo. This year’s edition is the first after two decades. Edited by Egidio Hermes Mpanga, the 2019 edition features writer’s; Steve Chimombo, David Rubadiri, Francis Moto, John Lwanda, Frank Chipasula, amongst others.

According to the president of PEN Malawi, a new anthology would be published every two years, instead of waiting for so long before having a new anthology.
