TrueYarn: The Wizkid of Drama, Tonto’s ‘Mad’ Family & CAN of Worms

In this age of social media, if you blink twice, you may miss something. And because everything is now fast-paced, clarity is often lost in the noise of click-bait headlines, unending chatter of Twitter lords and visual excesses of Instagram sensations.

Enters TrueYarn to sift through the clutter, offer some insight, common sense and help you read between the lines of the ‘things wey dey happen for obodo Naija’.

Here goes:

Tonto’s ‘mad’ family

Tonto Dikeh’s sister has revealed that closeted madness runs in their family and that they don’t only inherit fortune — but also enemies.

If you are wondering what instigated such a revelation, we’re here to assist you.

As you may well know, Tontolet never strays too far away from controversy, whether willfully or unwittingly. Controversy is attracted to her like short men are drawn to tall ladies.

The latest drama in her life was initiated by an ex-best friend turned good friend of her ex-husband.

Spilling a can of worms, the said friend, Blessing Osom, alleged that she was once Tontolet’s benefactor; feeding, clothing and funding her lifestyle.

But what prompted her to sing like a canary? Churchill Olakunle, Tontolet’s ex, supposedly sent Osom the sum of N3m as birthday gift — for being a good ex-friend to his ex-wife.

If you are reading this; may you find such favour in the eyes of your ex-best friend’s ex-husband.

Kimani in pain

After spending the last three months recording almost 50 songs in a Los Angeles studio, Victoria Kimani was snubbed during selection for Beyonce’s Lion King album.

Imagine moving to a city where Queen Bey and Jay-Z have a home and you still don’t get noticed.

Now wearing the toga of East African activist, the Kenyan singer who failed to have a breakthrough in Nigeria is “depressed” and deeply pained.

It also didn’t help that Tiwa Savage — whom she really loves to hate — is one of the many Nigerian stars featured on the soundtrack album.

In Kimani’s own words, “it hurts”.

CAN of worms

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) appears to be a house apart.

Just a few days ago, Samson Jonah and Israel Akanji, two CAN members, visited COZA to declare support for suspected rapist and alleged philanderer, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.

Standing on the altar of God, Jonah proudly declared to the jubilant COZA congregation: “We are with you and will continue to be with you. We are in support of your church. We are in support of your pastor. We stand by him.”

Just 24 hours later, CAN said the duo was on OYO (on your own) assignment.

Yeye dey smell.

Angel of Light

Ex-BBNaija contestant, Angel Awotarigha, wants to take power from the powers-that-be in Bayelsa.

The Angel of reality TV has thrown his halo in the ring of contenders for the state’s governorship election.

The self-proclaimed “tech billionaire” and mixed martial artist says “now is the time for action”.

With ‘Let there be light’ as his campaign slogan, the Angel of light is coming to send half-current, load-shedding and blackout back into the pit of hell — and away from Bayelsa.

Vote for Angel… and let there be light.

The Wizkid of Drama

For one who is hardly active on social media, Wizkid is the undisputed silent king of drama.

As his babymamas were tagging him “deadbeat” and “absent dad” in 2018, we thought Jada Pollock, his manager turned lover, was the exception.

Recent revelations suggest we may be wrong.

Pollock, who once called Wizkid “incredible dad” and described herself as his “wife”, has now accused him of being a wife-beater.

She says their relationship has been abusive, their home a war zone and also that he often leaves her with bruises.

The artiste-manager says she’s not only done with him professionally but also romantically.

Wahala dey.

Side-EYE

When Mavin’s whizkid, Rema, hit the scene, there were grumblings of a similarity between his sound and that of Wizkid’s.

In response, Don Jazzy asked everyone to take a chill pill and mind their business.

But with the release of another Mavin signee Crayon’s new single, the grumblings are back again.

From all indication, the sound of Wizkid may just be the new Mavin formula for hit songs.
