Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has strongly rejected claims that he owes approximately £ 4,106, or N8.5 million, related to a proposed UK tour, describing the allegations as false and damaging to his reputation.

The dispute arose after UK-based promoter and DJ, Otis Ayodele Kubeyinje (popularly known as Baddest DJ Timmy or DJ Timmy), publicly accused Dakolo of failing to settle expenses incurred for the planned tour.

The promoter shared what he claimed were supporting documents and threatened further disclosures if the debt was not cleared.

In a swift response through his legal representatives, Dakolo denied any liability. His lawyers stated that the contractual agreement explicitly placed all production and promotional costs on the promoter, not the artist. They argued that the claims misrepresented the terms and amounted to defamation.

Dakolo has instructed us to demand an immediate retraction of these false allegations, a public apology, and the removal of all defamatory publications,” the statement read.

The legal team warned that failure to comply would lead to lawsuits in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom to safeguard the singer’s image and seek damages.

The development has sparked conversations online, with fans divided between supporting the singer’s stance on artist-promoter responsibilities and calls for private resolution. This is not Dakolo’s first public financial disagreement, following earlier calls for payment from a Tinubu aide over a separate job.

As of now, DJ Timmy has not issued a formal response to the legal threat. Dakolo, known for his soulful music and advocacy, maintains he fulfilled his obligations and will pursue full legal redress if needed.
