Acclaimed actor, filmmaker, and media mogul Tyler Perry took to social media to celebrate the one-year anniversary of his Netflix film ‘Straw’, offering fans an intriguing glimpse into the movie’s layered symbolism and hidden Easter eggs.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Perry revealed that he embedded numerous subtle messages throughout the project. “I never revealed all the hidden messages in Straw, but I’ve always been curious as to whether you caught them all,” he wrote.
He began by highlighting the opening image of Taraji P. Henson’s character sitting up in bed, which nods to the artwork that inspired his first words for the screenplay.

Perry then shared a series of cryptic clues designed to spark deeper viewer engagement: the colour of 24, a beautiful lullaby, a “cross that hears,” where kindness is found, God’s grace, a wise counsellor protector, victor for people, and judge and arbiter. “My intention was to speak in many ways,” he explained. “There are a lot of clues but there is a certain number of them.”
The filmmaker encouraged fans to rewatch Straw on Netflix and share their discoveries in the comments. He expressed gratitude for the film’s reception and promised to read every response.
