
Following the demise of 21-year-old Nigerian footballer Victor Udoh, who allegedly died from food poisoning after recently visiting friends in Abuja his griefing mother has requested for the arrest of his friends and his girlfriend.
According to the statement published by Paris-based sports journalist, Ojora Babatunde, the mother of the former Southampton footballer got his friends and girlfriend arrested after her son died of “suspected food or alcohol poisoning”.
Hr wrote on X: “According to multiple reports, former Southampton F.C. and Royal Antwerp F.C. winger, Victor
Udoh reportedly died in Abuja last night following suspected food or alcohol poisoning.
“The 21-year-old winger was believed to be on holiday at the time of the incident.”
He added: “Developing story: Victor Udoh’s mother has reportedly had the deceased’s friends and girlfriend arrested in Abuja.”

Early reports claim the young footballer had gone out with friends the night before his death and was later found unresponsive the following morning. While suspicions point to food or drink poisoning, authorities have yet to confirm the exact cause of death officially.
Equally, Udoh was a Nigerian professional footballer who played as a forward. Udoh was a product of the Royal Antwerp academy and made his senior debut for the club during the 2023–24 season. In February 2025, he joined English club Southampton.
