Acclaimed actress Viola Davis has shared with her community what movie role in her years of acting, changed her.
During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning’s Tracy Smith, Davis noted that her iconic portrayal of ‘Annalise Keating’ in the hit series ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ was the role that changed her the most profoundly.

The groundbreaking character, a brilliant, flawed, and unapologetically complex criminal defense attorney and law professor—pushed Davis to confront and reject societal norms around beauty, confidence, and sexuality.
Davis powerfully stated how Annalise empowered her to embrace vulnerability, boldness, and authenticity without boundaries.
The role not only earned Davis the historic distinction of becoming the first Black woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2015 but also marked a pivotal shift in her career.
Davis has earned Oscar nominations for her poignant role as a grieving mother in Doubt (2008) and as the resilient maid Aibileen Clark in The Help (2011), and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress as Rose Maxson in the film adaptation of Fences (2016).
