Watch: Beyonce Drops “Already” Video Feat. Shatta Wale

Beyoncé has dropped the vibrant video for her song Already featuring Major Lazer and Shatta Wale; which is also a part of her Black Is King visual album. Black Is King is based on tracks from The Lion King: the Gift, the soundtrack from the 2019 film remake of The Lion King.

In the visually captivating new clip, Beyoncé is stunting in a number of locations; moving from outdoor nature scenes where she appears adorned in body paint in a tree, to a warehouse with dancers.

It also features scenes of dancers from around the world interwoven throughout the clip; highlighting the upcoming film’s inspiring celebration of being Black. The Pan-Africanism is evident from the choreography, featuring azonto and zanku.

Beyonce zig-zags and mashes up elements of cultures from all over Africa in this celebration of Blackness right from its root.

It is also quite obvious from the wardrobe, featuring elaborate geles Bantu knots of the Zulu tribe, mud and butter hair-do of the Himba women; as well as modernized cowhide clothing by the Nguni people, cowrie jewellery of the Mende people, and so on.

Black is King Disney

The visual was released mere hours before the premiere of Beyoncé’s Black Is King; which arrives via Disney+ at 3 a.m. ET on Friday. “Black Is King is an affirmation of a grand purpose; with lush visuals that celebrate Black resilience and culture,” Disney said in an earlier statement about the film.

“The film highlights the beauty of tradition and Black excellence,” the statement said.

As a recent film trailer showcases, Black Is King will feature guests Jay-Z, fellow Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Lupita Nyong’o, Naomi Campbell, models Aweng Ade-Chuol and Adut Akech and several other artists that appear on The Gift album.
