British-Nigerian Actor, Chiwetel Ejiofor is a new addition to Disney’s “Maleficent” movie, the sequel, and what an iconic role he plays in it! Angelina Jolie returns as the wicked fairy godmother who, as it turns out, is not one-of-a-kind after all as Connal (Chiwetel Ejiofor) has authority over her.
Alongside Jolie, other returning acts include Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville. Ed Skrein (Deadpool 2), Michelle Pfeiffer (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Warwick Davis (Solo: A Star Wars Story) join Ejiofor to round out the new cast.
According to Disney, the synopsis for “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” revolves around setting up a great war between Maleficent and Queen Ingrith.
“The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family. Aurora’s impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighbouring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds.”
It’s been raining Disney teasers lately, from the love-action studio remake of “Mulan”, to clips from soon-to-be released “The Lion King”; and now, the trailer for the sequel to the 2014 Sleeping Beauty Spinoff, “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”. The film is due for release on October 18, 2019.
