Sadiq Sani Sadiq, the popular Kannywood veteran actor, has taken to social media to plead with Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general elections.

Sadiq, in the video posted on social media, lamented bitterly about the present condition of the northern region, revealing that the region is now overwhelmed by insecurity, killings, and economic hardship.

The thespian admitted that supporting Tinubu’s government was a grave mistake and urged Nigerians not to repeat it in future elections.

He said, “We admit that we made a mistake in choosing this oppressive government of Tinubu. We are suffering because it is now very clear that he is not a lover of the people of the North; he does not care about the North.”

He explained the security crisis ravaging the region, citing multiple states where violence has become widespread.

Just look at what is happening in Zamfara State. Look at what is happening in Katsina State. Look at what is happening in Kebbi, Sokoto, Niger, Kwara, Benue, Plateau, Borno, Yobe, and Gombe. Insecurity has taken over, and even the remaining Northern states that were once peaceful are now affected,” he stated.

The actor said the Tinubu-led government has neglected the North and argued that the administration has not fulfilled its main duty to protect lives and property

This oppressive government of Tinubu does not love us; it does not care about the people of the North. Therefore, we must not make the mistake of re-electing this oppressive government. If you hear this and ignore it, you will bear the consequences,” he warned.

Sadiq also said that growing insecurity has severely damaged agriculture in the region, which has long been seen as the backbone of Northern Nigeria’s economy.

“If we make the mistake again of re-electing this oppressive government, then what we are currently experiencing, from heavy taxation to killings, will only continue. The North used to pride itself on farming, but now we cannot even go into our farms to cultivate food for ourselves. It has become impossible. We are being killed openly, and nothing is being done,” he lamented.

In a controversial remark, the actor also weighed in on national unity, claiming that the current administration’s policies are deepening divisions within the country.

Let me tell you something else. It is often said that the Igbo people want Nigeria to be divided. But in reality, this Tinubu government itself is the one pushing Nigeria toward division. Everything important, everything meant for development in the North, is being taken and moved to Lagos State,” he alleged.
