Nigerian street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has fired back at rapper Ycee, accusing him of chasing attention with his recent comments about the state of the Nigerian music industry.

Portable’s remarks come amid the ongoing “Olodo Uprising” debate, which has dominated conversations on social media after Ycee suggested that the rise of less educated entertainers and content creators was affecting the quality of the entertainment industry.

Reacting in a video shared online, Portable dismissed Ycee’s criticism and questioned why the rapper was only speaking out now that his career was no longer at its peak.

He said:”The time when Ycee was reigning, he didn’t blame another man. But now that his life is bitter, he’s now blaming Peller”.

The controversial singer went on to mock Ycee’s educational background, arguing that academic qualifications do not automatically translate into financial success or relevance in the entertainment industry.

He asked: “You that went to school, what did you use your money to do? How many cars do you have?”

He added: “Anytime they want to trend, they will chase clout”.

Portable also alleged that some celebrities deliberately stir controversy whenever they want to return to public attention.
