
In a fun, quick-fire interview with BBC News Pidgin, Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage, fondly called Mama JamJam, disclosed the one essential thing she does before every performance: pray.
When asked in Pidgin, “Wetin be di one tin you gatz do bifor you go on stage?”, the Queen of Afrobeats replied without hesitation: “Pray. Definitely pray.” However, Mama JamJam also shared how she gets her inspirations, noting that it comes from Lagos, London, Los Angeles, and fellow artist Waje.

Asides from Mama JamJam, other Nigerian artistes have also shared their pre-performance routines, often highlighting a strong spiritual element. Davido has publicly stated that he prays before stepping on stage, sometimes joining his crew in collective prayers for protection and focus.
