Nigerian socialite Okechukwu Pascal, also known as ChiefPriest, has said he cannot help secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), unless he is part of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
ChiefPriest shared this while replying to a social media critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM), who criticised him for working with a group supporting President Bola Tinubu’s reelection.
VDM posted a video on social media showing members of Tinubu’s support group, including ChiefPriest, meeting with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma.
VDM argued that ChiefPriest is being hypocritical by supporting the APC. He pointed to a post from November 2025 in which ChiefPriest told Tinubu that the ruling party would not get more than 10,000 votes in the South East in the 2027 presidential election if Nnamdi Kanu stayed in prison.
The social media critic questioned why ChiefPriest is campaigning for President Tinubu while Kanu is still in prison.
VDM claimed that ChiefPriest and other Southeast leaders have stopped calling for Kanu’s release and are now focused on their own interests.
In response, ChiefPriest posted on his Instagram that he cannot help Nnamdi Kanu and emphasised that he has always been an APC member.
He further stated that his father, Governor Uzodinma, has worked hard for him in the APC and will support Tinubu’s reelection, adding that he will be seeking to run for a seat in the House of Representatives.
He wrote, “@verydarkman I no fit help MNK from opposition. I have always been an APC member. My father, Governor Hope, has worked so hard on APC for me, not to support him as DG Renewed Hope. Last election as Special Adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi. But this time I dey work with Asiwaju. Me self i dey run federal house for my constituency under APC
