Nigerian videographer and music video producer, Femi Dapson, has opened up about the bold decision he made early in his career to leave a comfortable position at Winners’ Chapel and relocate to Lagos in search of bigger opportunities.
Dapson is the founder of Nouvelle Films and has worked on music videos for some of Nigeria’s biggest artistes.
The videographer recalled that he had already risen to a senior level at the church despite not having a university degree.
Speaking further, he said the access and recognition he enjoyed, including working closely with church leaders and meeting prominent personalities, made him realise that he could become too comfortable if he stayed.
He said: “I had to leave Winners, honestly, because I was like, if I stay here, I’ll get too comfortable.
He continued: ” At the time I was CEO level. I was already working at the highest level of church. No uni degree.”
He added, “I was wearing ties. I was meeting with presidents. I was like, Omo, don’t get carried away. You need to go and make money. And then I left. I came to Lagos.”
However, Dapson said he initially worked as a cleaner before coming across a job advertisement in a newspaper.
Despite finding himself in an interview room filled with people who had university degrees, he relied on his experience and confidence to convince the employers.

He said: “There were people with BSc there, bro. I kid you not. There were people with BSc. And I was there in the interview. I was like, Omo, this crazy.”
He eventually secured the job as a junior editor, marking the beginning of the career that would later see him become one of Nigeria’s recognised music video producers.
Aside his professional life, Dapson’s personal life has also entered a new chapter.
He married a lifestyle influencer Simi Sanya in February 2026, following their engagement in July 2025 and family introduction in November 2025.
The couple also held their traditional wedding in March 2026.
