Wizkid’s Mum passes away

Renowned singer Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has unfortunately suffered the loss of his mother.

Reports indicate that Wizkid’s mother, Jane Dolapo, passed away during the early hours of Friday, August 18, 2023.

The Nigerian music industry is deeply saddened by the news, with fellow celebrities and devoted fans sending their condolences to the grieving singer.

Jane Dolapo was a significant influence in Wizkid’s path to global stardom. She often supported his music career by attending his concerts, and her role in his success was acknowledged in his song “Joy.”

In the lyrics, Wizkid sings, “When I was a little boy mama told me, ‘My boy chase your dreams and keep believing, and the sky will be your beginning.'”

Known as an extraordinary woman to those who had the privilege of meeting her, she was spotted by fellow artist Davido at an airport last year, and he described her as an amazing first-class citizen.

While the circumstances of her death remain unknown, Wizkid has not made any official statement about the passing of his mother.
