Popular Nigerian Afro-pop singer, Yemi Alade has expressed her displeasure at the harassment of one of her dancers, Tomisin, by the Nigerian police.

In a video posted by the Musician via her Instagram on Monday, the Policemen in mufty were seen to have forcefully arrested the dancer.

Expressing her dissatisfaction to the incident, the singer said it is only in Nigeria that policemen who are meant to protect lives would rather harass and intimidate the innocent.

She wrote; “Yesterday, my dancer, Tomisin, was harassed for dancing on the street by policemen who were not in uniform. What was his crime, dancing? It’s only in Nigeria that uniformed men will rather prey on the innocent and protect the guilty.”

She further revealed that the dancer was later released after his phone was seized, with instruction from the police to report the next day to see the area commander.

She said, “Thankfully, he was released yesterday, but they have seized his phone. Why? They said he has to come and see their area commander the next day! Why such abuse of power? Making videos and taking pictures is not a crime in all civilised countries around the world.”
