Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has taken a trip down memory lane, revealing that his love story with his estranged first wife, May, began while he was sitting for the General Certificate of Education (GCE) exams, a standard pre-university qualification typically taken by 16- to 18-year-olds.

Edochie disclosed that their teenage romance blossomed rapidly, leading them to exchange vows when he was just 22 years old.
“We got married when I was 22. I think we met at the same centre when we were writing WAEC GCE,” he said.
This timeline mirrors May’s previous recollections, where she noted that their paths first crossed during her GCE prep days in Enugu.
“We met way back in school, when I went to the East for my university. We didn’t attend the same school. I went to Enugu State University of Science and Technology, while he went to UNIPORT,” she had said.
However, the nostalgic revelation stands in stark contrast to the couple’s current reality.

“You cannot be a fool for a woman. You must set boundaries. To be a fool is to accept anything she does,” he added.
Edochie, who has been at the centre of a relentless public storm since April 2022, when he shocked fans by introducing actress Judy Austin as his second wife and announcing they had welcomed a son together.
The move triggered intense public backlash and fractured his first marriage. By August 2023, May had officially filed for divorce, compounding the legal split with a staggering ₦100 million demand in damages.
