Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia 2Baba is facing intense online criticism following comments he made about Nigeria’s situation during an interview on Wazobia TV.
During the conversation, the host referenced his classic hit E Be Like Say, noting that the issues he sang about years ago still seem unchanged, especially now that the nation is entering another heated political season.
Reacting, 2Baba gave an opinion that has since stirred controversy. “We are better off than many years ago. Just look at it,” he said, a statement many Nigerians strongly disagreed with, sparking backlash across social media.

Despite the criticism, the singer went on to discuss his role in civic engagement. He revealed that although he had previously been involved in political campaigns in a limited capacity, he plans to deepen his involvement.
“It’s still ongoing, but I will continue doing it. I will set up my own position and try to make a difference,” he stated, hinting at a personal commitment to national improvement.
He further described himself as a self-appointed representative of the country, adding, “I have personally appointed myself as an ambassador of Nigeria… everywhere.”
