Nigerian actress and media personality Beverly Osu has sparked conversations online with a powerful message addressing emotional manipulation and misplaced blame in romantic relationships.
In an Instagram post shared recently, Osu highlighted what she sees as a troubling societal tendency which is shaming individuals who enter unhealthy partnerships while excusing those who deliberately deceive their partners.
“We love blaming people for choosing the wrong partner, but we never blame the person who faked their entire personality just to get them,” Osu wrote. “Stop shaming someone for trusting, and start holding the deceiver accountable for manipulating.”

The actress, known for her roles in popular Nollywood productions and her outspoken nature on social issues, urged a shift in narrative.
She emphasised that trust should not be viewed as a weakness, but rather as a foundation that deserves protection.
According to Osu, those who fabricate their values, interests, and character to secure a relationship are engaging in calculated emotional manipulation.
