Adekunle Gold Shares Why Genotype Compatibility Mattered Before Marrying Simi

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has spoken openly about the decisive role genotype testing played in his decision to marry fellow artiste Simi, stressing that he would not have proceeded with the marriage if her genotype had been SS or AS.

In a recent conversation on the One54 Africa platform, the “High” crooner explained: “I wouldn’t have married my wife Simi if she were SS or AS. She’s AA.”

He added that the couple underwent genotype testing before their 2019 wedding and that his stance was driven by a desire to spare any future children the painful challenges of sickle cell disease.
