British-Nigerian heavyweight star Anthony Joshua is gearing up for his first professional bout since a tragic car crash in Nigeria in late December 2025.

The former two-time world champion survived the accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which claimed the lives of two close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. Joshua sustained minor injuries but was hospitalized for observation.

His last fight was a dominant sixth-round knockout victory over Jake Paul in December 2025. Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed plans for a low-key return bout in July 2026 as a “warm-up,” with a potential blockbuster clash against Tyson Fury targeted for later in the year, possibly November, under the Riyadh Season banner.
Joshua has resumed training, linking up with members of Oleksandr Usyk’s team, and appears physically and mentally prepared to step back into the ring.
Fans have shown massive support following his emotional public statements about the crash and loss.
