Chadwick Boseman’s Final Movie, to Premiere Dec 18

Chadwick Boseman‘s last movie before his death titled, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, will premiere on Netflix on December 18, the US streaming giant announced on its social media page.

“Introducing Ma Rainey and her band. ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ on Netflix December 18,” it wrote on Instagram.

Set in the 1920s, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom follows the story of Ma Rainey (Viola Davis) a celebrated performer, who is trying to get control of her own music against her white manager. Chadwick Boseman plays Leevee, her ambitious trumpeter, who wants to make his mark in the music industry.

Directed by George C. Wolfe, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is produced by Denzel Washington and Todd Black.

Chadwick Boseman shockingly passed away on the age of 43 on August 28 following an extended battle with colon cancer. He started his acting career in 2013 in an episode of Third Watch.

42 is the breakout film that put the actor on the map, afterwards he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his appearance in the superhero ensemble blockbuster Captain America: Civil War. He played T’Challa, king of the African country of Wakanda, who becomes the powerful Black Panther.
