David Adeleke, popular Afrobeats singer, better known as Davido, has disclosed that his hit song With You, which features fellow Nigerian artiste Omah Lay, almost did not make it to his latest album, 5ive.

Davido made the revelation during a recent interview on American television network ABC. According to him, there was a point when he considered removing the track from the album, a move he now describes as one that would have been a big mistake.

It almost didn’t make the album. Every time I remember I almost took it off, my heart starts beating,” Davido said during the interview.

The singer, who has won multiple awards locally and internationally, praised Omah Lay for his role in the song’s success. He described their collaboration as a “true African classic” and expressed happiness that they worked together on the project.

Since its release, With You has become the biggest song from the 5ive album and one of the most popular Afrobeats tracks of 2025. The single has topped music charts in Nigeria and gained significant airplay across Africa, Europe, and North America.

The track has also been a major highlight of Davido’s ongoing “5 Alive” world tour. One of the standout moments was his performance at the Scotia Bank Arena in Canada, where fans cheered loudly and sang along word for word.

Davido’s tour has recorded massive success, with the artiste recently announcing that he sold out 12 venues across North America. To celebrate the milestone, Davido and his team cut a special cake after his concert at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland, United States.

The tour was temporarily put on hold in July for Davido’s high-profile wedding to his long-time partner, Chioma Rowland. The lavish ceremony, held in Miami, Florida, was attended by prominent personalities including Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
