The Canadian rapper had placed a huge wager backing Argentina to defeat Spain in Sunday’s thrilling climax at MetLife Stadium. However, Spain’s hard-fought 1-0 victory shattered his hopes and left a huge hole in his pocket.
This latest loss has revived talks of the “Drake curse”, a popular online narrative suggesting the artist’s support often brings bad luck to teams. Drake’s betting slip quickly became one of the most discussed topics online as fans flooded social media with memes and reactions.
