Nigerian comedian, Ayo Makun has paid an emotional tribute to his late colleague and friend, Alexx Ekubo, following the actor’s reported death after a battle with cancer at the age of 41.
Reacting to the heartbreaking loss, Ayo revealed that seeing Ekubo after his passing left him deeply shaken, noting that the actor still had a smile on his face even in death.
He also spoke about witnessing the grief and tears from close friends and family members, admitting that part of him is still struggling to accept the reality of the tragedy.

The comedian said some losses are difficult to comprehend, no matter how much one tries to process them. Reflecting on their friendship, he remembered the laughter, conversations, bond and memorable moments they shared together over the years.

“Some losses do not feel real, no matter how many times you try to process them. Still struggling with the reality that you are gone, Alex. From the laughter to the conversations, the random moments, the brotherhood, and all the memories we shared in this industry… this one hurts deeply.
“I was there. I saw you still smiling even in death. I saw the tears from friends and family. And honestly, a part of me is still in shock. Rest well, my brother. You will be remembered beyond the lights, the cameras, and the fame,” He wrote.

Interestingly, Alexx had previously shared emotional reflections about life and death during past celebrity tragedies. Following the death of singer Mohbad in 2023, he spoke about how people often show love after someone dies while neglecting them when they are alive. He also criticised society for envying successful people while ignoring those struggling financially.
During the death of Junior Pope, Alexx also urged people to show compassion in difficult moments rather than turning painful situations into content for social media.
