Nigerian filmmaker and producer Judith Audu has opened up about the numerous challenges associated with making films in Nigeria.
As part of activities marking her recent birthday, Audu hosted an honest conversation on the business of filmmaking, bringing together nearly 100 filmmakers, producers and industry professionals.
The knowledge-sharing event, held on July 1, provided a safe and collaborative space for aspiring and established producers to engage in meaningful discussions on storytelling, film production and building sustainable careers within the industry.

During the event, Audu also unveiled Producers Circle, a new community designed to connect, support, challenge and empower film producers as they navigate the realities of the industry.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the initiative, the actress and producer explained that it was created to ensure producers no longer have to face the challenges of filmmaking in isolation.
“Filmmaking is hard, and producing can often feel like a lonely journey. Producers Circle is a community where we can learn from one another, share experiences, solve problems together and build stronger, more sustainable careers. No producer should have to build alone,” she said.
The event featured three engaging panel sessions that explored key aspects of modern film production, including producing for both the big and small screen, navigating international co-productions, leveraging film festivals and maximising opportunities through industry residencies.

Among the accomplished producers who participated in the sessions were Isioma Osaje, Nicole Ofoegbu, Damilola Aleja, Maryann Ngozi, Blessing Nze Obasi, Heavens Obule, Efe Irele, Emily Odungide, Sandra Okunzuwa and Josh Olaolu.
The gathering also attracted notable members of the film community, including Uyoyou Adia, Mayowa Bakare, Nehita Ofure Irieme and David Odili, further underscoring the industry’s commitment to mentorship, collaboration and professional development.
Supported by Co-Creation Entertainment and Media Hub, the event marks the beginning of what Audu hopes will become a thriving community for producers committed to excellence, collaboration and sustainable growth.
