Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has opened up about the importance of setting boundaries in both her personal and professional life, saying the decision has sometimes led to misunderstandings about her character.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with Billionaires in Nigeria, the award-winning actress reflected on the lessons she has learnt over the years while navigating fame, leadership and success in the entertainment industry.
According to Akindele, creating boundaries has become necessary for her wellbeing and growth, even though some people have interpreted her actions negatively.
Akindele said: “What I have learnt is to create boundaries. People might think I am wicked or that I avoid some people, but that’s not it at all.”
The actress explained that choosing who to give access to and when to step back from certain situations should not be mistaken for arrogance or hostility.
Instead, she suggested that boundaries are essential for maintaining focus and protecting one’s peace of mind, especially in demanding industries such as entertainment.
Akindele, who has built one of the most successfull careers in Nollywood, also spoke about the legacy she hopes to leave behind.
Akindele added: “My legacy is to give women voices and opportunities.”
