The immediate past president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas has come under heavy criticism after throwing his weight behind President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This comes after Rollas, via his Instagram, unveiled the Concerned Creative Artistes & Entertainment Initiative (CCAEI) at a World Press Conference, dedicated to appreciating Tinubu for his transformative support and commitment to the growth of Nigeria’s creative and entertainment industry.
According to Rollas, the conference had distinguished government representatives, such as Dr Olayiwola Awakan, DG, Nigeria Tourism Development Authority, who was the AGN Public Relations Officer for Ogun State before his appointment, Barr. Obikwelu, representing the Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board, Obi Asika’s representative from the National Council for Arts and Culture.
He further noted that the government’s participation reflects the growing synergy between FG and the creative sector and also reinforces our collective commitment to advancing the creative economy under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He further urged interested creatives, stakeholders, industry leaders, and media partners to join the movement.
Reacting, many displeased Nigerians stormed the post’s comment section to criticise him.
