Media personality Chidera Dior Adiele has opened up about the painful experiences she endured while growing up, including alleged abuse and the emotional impact her childhood had on her later life.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Talk to B podcast, Adiele alleged that she was abused by three different uncles on several occasions between the ages of six and 13.
She explained that the experiences were particularly painful because they allegedly happened within the family environment, where her parents believed she was safe.
According to Adiele, growing up in a traditional Igbo home meant she had far less freedom than her brother, who was regarded as the family’s heir.
While she was often restricted from going out to play, she said the very home she was being protected in became the place where she allegedly experienced abuse.
She said: “Imagine being locked in a four-bedroom flat, and the things that they thought they were protecting me from by not letting me go out to play now started to happen to me inside the house, like right under their noses.”
The media personality also reflected on the effect her experiences had on her teenage years, revealing that she began smoking at around 13.

She continued until becoming pregnant at 20, which she described as a major turning point in her life.
Despite everything, Adiele said she still loves her parents but believes they need to take responsibility for the mistakes made during her upbringing.
She added: “I love my parents, but I’m not going to erase their failure. I wouldn’t have come out to talk about it if they had taken accountability.”
