Nigerian music star Davido has fired back at rapper Erigga following a social media post celebrating musicians who rose to success without coming from wealthy families.
Erigga had shared a message praising artistes who had to work hard for every penny they earned, writing: “Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn.”

The post appeared to touch a nerve with Davido, whose privileged family background has often been a topic of discussion among fans and critics. Responding to Erigga’s remark, the Afrobeats superstar dismissed the message as unnecessary motivation.

Davido wrote in Pidgin, “No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top. Comot here with that your useless motivation… imbecile.”
The singer further questioned why anyone would glorify poverty, posting, “Deep down who like poverty?” He later followed up with another blunt response, simply writing, “Nonsense.”

Davido also addressed the continued conversations surrounding his wealth and music career, declaring that he would eventually step away to focus on making his billions.
“No worry o, I go soon leave their music for una. GO MAKE MY BILLIONS… then that shit gonna be boring AF,” he wrote.

The exchange has since sparked reactions online, with fans debating whether coming from wealth should affect how an artiste’s hard work and achievements are viewed.
