Akinyoola Ayoola, the Nigerian skit maker and actor popularly known as Kamo State, has shut down rumours alleging a fallout between him and actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele.
The comic actor, while speaking during a recent interview, explained that their reduced public appearances together are simply the result of their increasingly demanding schedules.
He explained that they are still close, even though they are not seen together as much these days. Both have become busier with their careers, so it is harder for them to spend as much time together as before.
“We are still together, even closer. But now she is very busy with her December project, which didn’t give her a chance. I am also not the same as I used to be last year, and her prayer is that I should also always be called to work on projects,” he said.
Kamo also asked fans and people on social media to stop spreading false stories about their relationship. ” People paint what doesn’t exist,” he added.
Looking back on how their relationship started, the skit maker said he admired Funke long before they met and called her one of his biggest inspirations.
“Before I met her, she had been like a role model to me; I love her very much. The first time I saw her in person was on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa.

“I lost the key to the handcuff we used on set so she showed concern about the incident. Because of how she treated me on set, I started calling her mummy,” he said.
He revealed that Funke’s confidence in his talent and dedication paved the way for several collaborations on her productions, including Ayetoro and Behind the Scenes.
According to him, the actress was impressed by his work ethic, which strengthened their professional relationship over time.
Kamo has previously credited Funke with helping to shape his acting career after discovering him through his comedy skits. He has often described her as a mentor who gave him opportunities in film and television productions, leading to several collaborations.
