Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the safe return of Chief J.J. Ezeokafor, chairman of Jezco Group and father of socialite Jowizaza, along with a Reverend Sister who was abducted with him.

Police said the pair were seized by armed men in Ifite-Awka. Ezeokafor was kidnapped in the early hours of Tuesday, August 4, after leaving his residence for a prayer ground in Awka.

According to police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the victims have been released and have safely returned. Authorities are now working to establish the circumstances of their release and gather information that could help identify those responsible.

Multiple security agencies, including the police, Department of State Services, the military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and local Agunechemba operatives, are involved in the ongoing effort.

Ezeokafor, a prominent businessman, had been held for several days. Earlier reports indicated that abductors contacted his family and demanded substantial ransom, though police have not confirmed whether any payment was made.

The safe return has brought relief to the family as investigations continue.
