Nigerian media mogul and entrepreneur Mo Abudu recently opened up about one of the most defining decisions of her life: leaving a stable, well-paying career in the oil and gas sector at the age of 40 to pursue her true calling.
Abudu, who is widely recognised as a powerhouse in Africa’s entertainment industry, disclosed that despite the comfort and security her job provided, she felt a strong conviction to take a different path.
According to Abudu, the decision was not driven by dissatisfaction but by a deeper sense of purpose.

“I left my stable 9-5 oil and gas job at 40 to follow mine. It was a really nice job and there was no reason to leave it, but I knew God wanted me to do something else. Discover your purpose and go after it,” she said.
However, Abudu’s journey serves as a powerful reminder that success is not always about staying in one’s comfort zone, but about recognising and pursuing one’s true purpose.
