Mr P’s Marriage Likened to Prince Harry’s
The circumstances surrounding the split of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the UK royal family, have been likened to that of singer Peter Okoye aka Mr P, and his wife Lola.
As reported on eelive.ng, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from royal duties amid Meghan’s struggles to adapt to life in the royal family.
In an interview with American talk show host, Oprah Winfrey, Meghan narrated how she contemplated suicide after her struggles with the royal family took a toll on her mental health.
The pair’s revelation had since reignited discussions on Twitter over how Mr P fell out with his family for insisting on marrying Lola.
Many users also alleged that Mr P’s marriage to Lola led to the collapse of Psquare, the now-defunct music group, which he started with Paul Okoye aka Rude Boy, his twin brother.
“Peter Okoye (Mr P) did more than Harry to protect his wife. Fought his family and left them. Quarrelled with his twin. Scattered Psquare, a legacy world-beating successful music group for his wife. But he was still villainised here by men and women. Is he not a Nigerian man?” a user queried.
“We should celebrate Peter Okoye for standing for his wife against his family. The only difference between Harry and Peter is that the former is royalty while the latter is not. Peter Okoye, na man you be,” another user wrote.
