Omo Ghetto The Saga becomes Netflix Naija’s most watched title
Nigerian actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele Bello and husband, JJC Skillz’s movie ‘Omo Ghetto the Saga ‘ has broken another major record.
The comedy flick is reportedly now leading as the most watched title on Netflix Naija.
The Saga is a sequel to the original movie, a 2010 Nigerian crime comedy drama film directed by Abiodun Olarenwaju, starring Funke Akindele, Rachel Oniga, Taiwo Hassan, Yinka Quadri and Eniola Badmus. In the movie, Akindele took on the dual role of twin sisters. The sequel grossed over N500 million making it the highest grossing film in Nigerian box office.
The Saga follows the story of twin sisters leading separate lives but reunite later by a series of dramatic events.
According to a report by Flix Patrol, the sequel has stayed on the streamer’s top 10 list. It is the longest-running title for a Nollywood picture for a total of 98 days.
Although the Saga was released in 2020, but its debute on Netflix was in 2021. It has since then been receiving commendments.
The sequel stars some of nollywood’s finest including Chioma Akpota, Nancy Isime, Eniola Badmus, Tina Mba. Also stars Bimbo Thomas, Deyemi Okanlawon and Mercy Aigbe among others.
